When Did This Happen?

Who is this child and what has he done with my son?!?! When, as a youngER woman, one thinks about being a mother, the image involves babies and toddlers, and little whippersnappers just hitting the school bus to start school. I don't think we daydream about having teenagers, but.....in the blink of an eye.....that is exactly what we have. That's right, next week on August 15th Austin will officially become a teenager. It is bizzaro!!! I say this because, while it seems so strange to be A mother of a teenager, being HIS mother is not strange at all. It is, in fact, the most natural thing I have ever done. He is a sweet, loving, quirky, kind, talented, well grounded, family loving, Jesus adoring, little man! Again, how did this happen!?!? Thank you, Lord, for the joy and pleasure, the awesome gift, of being Austin's mother. I hope and pray that I do not fail in my responsibility to teach him Your ways: treating others with grace, mercy, love, and kindness, putting you first-all others second-and self interests last, and loving others for who and what they are right where they are, not for what they have, who they know, or what they have done--but simply because they ARE. So, far.........well, so far he has a greater grasp of these things than most.....including myself. I love you, Austin Michael Wagner, and could not be any more proud to be have been entrusted to be your Mother.

He's a Big Boy Now....

Well, I registered Davison for first grade today. He will now officially be an attender of public school and experiencing all of the things that go along with that...including riding the school bus. So...tomorrow morning bright and early, he and I will head to North Madison Elementary School (Austin's alma mater) to take a "practice run" on the big yellow school beast, I mean bus. It's a little sad for me....just another piece of his innocence gone as he hears/learns all of the things that are going on during the ride to and from school. After all....the school bus is where one gets his/her TRUE education!!

Anyway, Davison's teacher this year will be Mrs. Pence. I hear she is a sweet, yet firm, leader. Hmmmmm....should work well for Davison.:) Pray for Dave as he "spreads his wings".... I want him to continue to mature and grow without having his amazing little spirit crushed. School is so NOT for little boys, it seems........
